Hey... quick printer replacement question for you KITA's... I currently have (or had...) an HP 6700 All-In-One printer, but it's on it's way out, so I was looking for a replacement. Wanted to stay in the $100 range, so I narrowed my search down to 2 printers: HP OfficeJet Pro 6978, or the Epson Workforce WF-3640. Wi-Fi is a must, and duplexing too. the sheet-feeder is also a bonus. Does anyone have any thoughts on either? Or maybe a different brand? I only print paper, no photos.

I have had a WF3640 for several years. Still working like new.

I print from my phone and iPad an a regular basis.

I also bought one for my Mom, and set one up for a friend.

Also use the scanner to scan in pictures. The presets are very handy.

Setting up a shortcut on my main PC for the SD on the Epson saves some time, and insures another master copy of scanned pictures.

I recommend the WF3640 as well for an ink-jet printer. I bought mine a couple of years ago after my frustration with HP multi-function products finally drove me to find another brand of printer. If you're looking for a Wifi, NFC, black-only laser printer workhorse (no scanner) I have had very good performance from a Samsung Xpress M2830DW as well.

Thanks for the replies... I was leaning towards the Epson anyway. I've been dealing with HP since the 4000 Series laser printers were NEW... but their quality AND the drivers and the crap that comes with it just got me more frustrated as time went on. This 6700 I have did last a while though, but my fondness for HP is slipping...

I'm sick of the cost and frequency of replacement of inkjet cartridges,

Although the epson cost significantly more then the HP and outside of your price, consider the cost and inconvenience of all those cartridges as compared to a printer that comes out of the box with 2 years worth of ink.
