G+_Josh Frye
Not sure if this is big news or not, but I wonder what Steve Gibson and the Twit crew think of something like this. Originally shared by Josh Frye A company is looking to replace the windows clients in ATMs with a cloud connected android thin client. I see the point in this would speed up the installation of patches and other security updates. And I do use cloud software, but this is one of those changes I want to see out in the wild for awhile, getting hit by hackers, before I ever use it. (Mainly because it seems such a new concept in the ATM world.) http://www.itworld.com/article/2910415/dont-look-now-but-atms-are-about-to-get-a-cloud-makeover.html?phint=newt%3Ditworld_cloud_computing&phint=idg_eid%3D18e4420415abbffd5f3a67d2bceef4d6#tk.ITWNLE_nlt_saas_2015-04-22 http://www.itworld.com/article/2910415/dont-look-now-but-atms-are-about-to-get-a-cloud-makeover.html?phint=newt%3Ditworld_cloud_computing&phint=idg_eid%3D18e4420415abbffd5f3a67d2bceef4d6#tk.ITWNLE_nlt_saas_2015-04-
G+_Ned Jeffery
Huh, isn't an ATM already connected to the cloud by definition? This is just about window dressing. ?
G+_Josh Frye
My understanding that most of the processing and programing are done on the ATM itself now, but they do call home to check accounts and to report transactions. But I am not a expert on ATM systems by any means.
