There are some providers, not large providers, that force customers to use a digital converter box (the size of a roku) or their service will be shut off. Customers with digital TV's don't get to use the features of their tv's guide and tuner because of it. That was the answer to customers that don't want a DVR.

I'm not holding my breath when it comes to cable companies, when they pull off stuff like this in the past, I've been burned so many times in the past when I did have cable
