G+_Mark Williamson
I would like to see a TWIT or even a special show that has a NON-EMOTIONAL discussion about iPhone and iOS and Google and Android OS. It would be great to hear the guys from MacBreak Weekly and All About Android compare and contrast the current capabilities of the mobile OS, if Apple or Google has the better long-term strategy in the mobile ecosystem, what should we expect from iOS7 and Android Key Lime Pie...want do we want, by keeping everything within a walled garden is Apple repeating the mistake it make with PCs....I would like to see a hour or hour and a half of panel discussion then a chat room question and answer session.... Originally shared by Mark Williamson Some interesting quotes/thoughts from the article worthy of discussion: Is this true: "The new breed of Android devices exceed the iPhone 5 in every category -- hardware, operating system, and apps."? Definitely agree with this quote: "The cloud behind the app is more important than the app. In a world where the hardware and operating system have become commoditized, the apps are the differentiator, and more and more, the apps are a viewport into a cloud service driven by machine learning." Is the iPhone losing ground with the tech savoy crowd? Did Samsung's latest Galaxy S3 commercials actually get it right? "What phone would I recommend for my mom? An iPhone. It's safe, predictable, and uniform. What would I recommend for anyone under 40? Definitely one of the new breeds of Android phones. Android might still be a bit quirkier than an iPhone, but it's definitely not confusing for people who interact daily with a variety of advanced technology. Samsung really nailed it in its commercial where a young woman is waiting in line for a new iPhone and it turns out she is holding the spot for her parents." http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57563527-37/android-challenges-the-iphone-in-every-category/
G+_Jason Honingford
What's offensive here is posting a CNET/CBS article.
G+_David Podnar
when Sarah had on Eileen on iPad today they did a good comparision without any arguing.
G+_Matt Lyons
What would be the point? There's nothing new to debate between Android/Apple. If you want to know anything, just look it up.
G+_Clarence Brown
MacBreak Weekly vs. All About Android, MacBreak Weekly vs. Windows Weekly, and All About Android vs. Windows Weekly... I'm down... could be interesting...
G+_Mark Williamson
Matt Lyons I would like to see discussion that goes beyond the typical why I like "fill in the blank" better. What is the future in mobile OS, which company seems to understand the best way to integrate web services/social into their platform, what is the next big innovation that will redefine mobile to the degree that the iPhone did for smartphones. G+_Dave Bach
Mark Williamson that was a woman waiting in line? Either there were two commercials or you need to run to the optometrist.
G+_Emil “opi” Oppeln-Broni
This comes down to personal preferences. I don't see myself getting Windows Phone or iPhone. Not because I "hate them", Windows Weekly is the best show on the TWiT, and I watch every episode of iPad Today. But, you see, I'm running Linux on my computers and this makes Android (earlier Meamo/MeeGo) a perfect choice for me. No amount of arguing will change that. Let people have their toys without having to defend their choices in tech.
G+_Mark Williamson
Emil Oppeln-Bronikowski True, but what would be interesting is if Apple, Google or even Microsoft could come up with a mobile OS innovation that would meet the preferences of multiple types of users. Additionally, after the iPhone all companies rushed out to build and sell phones that were as similar as the iPhone and iOS as they could. You are now seeing Android and Window's phone trying different UIs, features and for Google great web services, and they are putting out some phones near the quality of iPhone design and build. The field is open for the "next big thing" in mobile OS and phone design (finding the sweet spot for screen size), what is it?
G+_Emil “opi” Oppeln-Broni
Mark Williamson Mobile OS that meets the preference of multiple types of users? It's Android. The open nature of its code makes it so. From chep phones for people who want to have a e-mail on their phone to Nexus line and Galaxy line, from stock tablet experience to Amazon's Kindle.
