G+_Tom Wiswell
I have a Tasker Question. I'm wanting to set my text notification sound to be quieter during normal business hours. Can I set Tasker to adjust volume depending on Day/Time? For example I would want volume at half Mon/Wed/Fri 8-5 & Tues/Thurs 8-Noon. Also can this be driven by day (not date). So can I say on Monday's do this, or do I have to put in the date for every Monday? Thanks
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Tom Wiswell - A quick question, are you connected to WiFi at work? Or is it a different location from your house? The reason I ask is that these are better triggers for events rather than a time schedule. For example, if you get to work early, leave late, or are out on vacation, the volume will still be adjusted when using a schedule. This works great for me. When connecting to different WiFi networks, I toggle different Google Voice phones. This way my house phone doesn't ring when I'm not at my house, and my work phone doesn't ring when I'm not at work. G+_Jonathan Feist
Hey Tom Wiswell, I was just playing with it, you are going to need to create one, maybe two Tasks, and break this up into two Profiles, one profile for each time frame. (Profile 1 - Mon/Wed/Fri. Profile 2 - Tues/Thurs) I like to create my Tasks first, so: Task 1 [QuietNotify]: Audio-> notification-> 3 (or whatever suites you.) Task 2 [NormalNotify]: Audio-> Notification-> 6 (or whatever your normal is.) I know that the Profile is supposed to automatically return the value when it closes, so give it a try without Task 2, but I need Task 2 on my setup for some reason. (You could also set a global variable to grab the current volume before reducing it in Task 1, and return to that value in Task 2.) Then the Profiles: Start with Day value, should show you months on top then days of the month below, there is a dropdown there that says Month Day, change that to Week Day and select your days. Once selected, back out and it will ask for your Task, assign Task 1 from above, obviously. Now, long press the Days value (Mon/Wed/Fri) in the profile and select Add+, then choose Time and set your values. Repeat the profiles steps for the second day set. You'll notice that you can use the same Task for multiple Profiles, really helps keep things clean and simple. Good luck! (p.s. I'm just some guy who had a minute to look at this, my suggestion works solid for me, but a pro may laugh at my tactics. And, everything is based off of the latest Tasker build on JellyBean 4.2.2 on a tablet, hopefully it all works for you too.)
