G+_Jake Matic
Question for the community on FPV googles... I'm looking for good quality ones, not actually for FPV, but they seem to be the best quality and hoping y'all have recommendations from hands on experience with quads. What I'd like: - to use a computer/device to watch movies, browse the web, etc - prefer HDMI input - can be used with eyeglasses - doesn't need to be wireless or battery operated - no 3D, AR, or VR, just normal video Appreciate any input from the folks here. Thanks!
G+_Eddie Foy
Checkout AV shops, not hobby/FPV Most of the FVP that are not an arm and a leg are low resolution. Search for DVD goggles or the like. With eyeglasses might be a issue. My FatShark has optional snap in generic lenses. I'm ok without them, by my Rx is only about 1.25 and not much cylinder. G+_Jake Matic
Wayne Hobbins Lumia 640XL. Preferably this wouldn't use a phone at all as it would be difficult to control (think trying to use a web page). Want it to be device agnostic, and have a Chromebox on the way to test with. and have done limited testing with a Raspberry Pi and a cheapo fleaBay monocular. That's a really cool product though! G+_Jake Matic
Wayne Hobbins Doesn't work on Windows Phone though.... Would consider an ultra ultra ultra cheap Android device if necessary, but there must be other solutions
G+_Jake Matic
Wayne Hobbins Am beginning to ask myself the same question! Those HeadPlay googles are intriguing, especially at that price point. Honestly this isn't a 'what can I get for under $__' question, but I want to keep it in the realm of reality :) Surprised someone hasn't latched onto this market yet. So many possibilities, yet most companies are still stuck on VR/3D and other 'too much' ideas. Have seriously contemplated sticking two iPod mini's to an old set of glasses LOL
G+_Jake Matic
Wayne Hobbins You have sparked and idea for what may be an incredibly simple solution :D Think about a Vue VX1 with something like this attached: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/837493-REG/Marshall_Electronics_M_CT7_CE6_7_CAMERA_TOP_MONITOR.html For around $300 it could be pretty slick for my purpose and FPV... G+_Jake Matic
Wayne Hobbins Agreed, and heavy... was thinking portable TV and stumbled upon on-camera monitors. Might be better to get a $100-ish Android phone and use it just for this with Chrome Remote Desktop as you suggested. I love the simplicity of the monitor though
G+_Jake Matic
Vue VX1 on order. Basically I see three options: 1 - Existing Lumia with bluetooth mouse/keyboard 2 - Android phone used only for this with screen mirroring 3 - Some sort of monitor Will let you know my impressions of the VX1 but it looks very promising. Thanks for all the input and discussion !
