G+_Preet Sangha
Guys I just wanted to make you aware of a product on indegogo (not adding link) called Batteroo that claims to extend disposable batteries' lives by up to 6 times, simply by attaching a small sleeve. Dave from the EEVLOG (which is a very very highly regarded electronics channel) has debunked the first version of this product so the people behind it changed the names and are on indegogo again. The product is a simple joule thief/voltage booster and nothing else. Gizmodo also debunked it https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2015/09/dont-buy-the-bullshit-this-indiegogo-campaign-is-selling/ https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2015/09/dont-buy-the-bullshit-this-indiegogo-campaign-is-selling/
G+_Paul Hutchinson
It's sad this thing is back trying to take money from those who don't understand the technology. If this had been available in the 1990's there would have been lots of good applications for it. In that and earlier decades many consumer electronic devices did not have switching supplies designed to optimize alkaline battery life. Of course the catch is that the reason so many devices didn't have an optimized switcher was the high cost of switching power supplies, so this device would also have been too expensive.
