G+_Ed Lazarus (thegrayarea
I am thinking about putting one of these in my server to load the OS on with a 32GB or 64GB SSD. just seeing if anyone has used these before and if they are worth the money, my plan is to use the on board SATA for my storage drives. thanks in advance http://amzn.com/B00HLRTH2C
G+_Travis Hershberger
Any reason not to go with an integrated one? https://www.google.com/shopping/product/272938980306404154?q=pcix+ssd&biw=1508&bih=793&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.78677474,d.aWw&tch=1&ech=1&psi=Bm5aVIjvLNWuyAT67YCoBQ.1415212554767.17&sa=X&ei=6G5aVJKINIyUyASLuYG4AQ&ved=0CN8FEPMCMAk4oAE
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Nope... don't do it. A PCIe card that uses mSATA SSDs won't get you any speed over SATA unless it's using them in an array. A REAL PCIe SSD card will get you speeds in the range of 3-6x faster than the fastest SATA Rev 3 SSD. :)

G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
Ed Lazarus? owc makes pcie ssd adapters like this that use ssd cards similar to the MacBook Air cards. I think Leo used one in an older issue of know how when he upgraded an older mac pro. It's expensive but could possibly work. I agree,if you have an integrated msata on the board,go with that and use the sata ports for the drives.or if you're going with something like freenas or unraid you can use a USB drive. G+_Travis Hershberger
Lance Pelissier Why is that? Running a server you're just going to load a hypervisor on the "OS" drive, and those generally don't take more than 2GB of space. Heck, one of the servers at work boots off an 8GB USB drive, plugged into an internal USB port that Dell put in with that idea in mind.
