G+_Jonathan Mayer
I was afraid of this, iMovie and the rest of the iWork suite isn't free for those of us who already had an ios device
G+_Karla
Mine was free on all my devices.
G+_Jeremy Gilbrech
It's a no win situation for them. People with old devices will complain that they don't get it for free. If they did make it free for all users, all the people who paid for it already would complain.

G+_Paul Comeau
my meager understanding... on iOS if you've already bought iWork or iLife apps for your mobile device and you're running iOS 7 then the upgrades are free. On the other hand... iWork software on OS X does not appear to be free for upgrade (at least in my case I have Pages, etc on OS X but after the Mavericks upgrade the App Store says they cost money.) iLife apps on OS X Mavericks do appear to have a free upgrade. G+_Tony Roberts
Luke Olson not just you, they're for purchase on my wife's devices as well.
G+_Richard Nesberg
They will make these apps free across all devices in time. Right now it's a selling point for the new hardware.
G+_Luke Olson
Richard Nesberg meaning they will never enable it for all devices, its just a push to upgrade
G+_Paul Comeau
update on my front iWork upgrade on OS X Mavericks was free, just turned out to be under a different account than my other apps. So again if you bought them prior to the update, then the update is free. Only other "free" is via buying new device.

G+_Richard Nesberg
Luke Olson No, I expect within a year they'll announce, "iWork and iLife have been free to owners of our latest and greatest devices, and today we're proud to announce we're making them free for any device running the latest versions iOS7 or Mavericks." Guarantee it.
