G+_Steve Prior
I'm looking for a recommendation of what's the smallest sized quad that's appropriate for carrying a Mobius camera possibly with gymbal mount? I've been flying my Syma X5 (not C) through the trees in front of my house so smaller is better, but would like to build something that can also shoot halfway decent video. G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Build a 230 class with 1806 class motors, 12amp ESCs, and a MWC clip on a stretched X frame with a clean/dirty mobius mount on the top.
G+_Steve Prior
Is readytoflyquads.com actively in business at the moment? You recommend it but their new website isn't complete, no contact info and about and shipping pages just say "coming soon" and the website mentions health issues. G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
I know that Paul Baxter (ReadyToFlyQuads) gets overloaded... and I know that he WAS in the hospital this past week, but he's definitely not a scammer. In fact, just this past week we had a Know-It-All reach out to me for help with RTFQ. He has accidentally put the wrong address on his package (international delivery) and was desperately looking for a way to fix it. -- It was totally his fault, and the package may be unrecoverable... but Paul just resent his order to the right address... Sometimes the orders may be slow, but he's a good guy... and I'll put my money behind that. :)
G+_Steve Prior
I didn't think (or accuse) him of being a scammer, but seeing a website in that condition is a major red flag. Since health issues were mentioned across the top of the page I did wonder if things had gone downhill and wondered whether he was still in business. I wanted to contact him to turn the show notes from KH 122 into a complete shopping list including everything down to bullet connectors, battery, charger and couldn't find contact info. Then when I saw the RTF section all completely out of stock the site looked unmaintained. BTW the show notes from KH 122 have site links to his old site so they're all bad. I'm really getting hot to order all the parts for the 230 class Mobius capable quad you suggested and wnated his help to put together a complete list. Soldering isn't a problem for me. I'd like to add lights similar to the Syma X5 so it's easy to see which way is which (colored parts of the drone can be hard to see backlit from the sky) and also saw mention of RGB LEDs which can be used to indicate battery charge which sounds great, but I could use more info on how to hook that up. I also need a radio and was wondering what you'd suggest as a step up from the FlySky that doesn't jump to crazy money.
G+_Tracy Biddle
I have recently purchase several items from readytoFlyquads. I was a little skeptical, but did it anyway. I even ordered a flight controller with some special soldering requests (that state on the site will take several more days) and each time. The order was completed fast, and shipped out faster than most sites (including HK). So I am happy with Paul at RTFQ.
G+_Steve Prior
My problem was that I needed to ask a pre sale question and there was no contact info to do so.
G+_Tracy Biddle
I agree with you Steve Prior he has much work to do with the site in order to make it more legit. Not sure what the story is there. But if your gonna make it a business you need to put everything in place so that people are comfortable buying from you. I would have never bought from ReadytoFlyQuads if Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ had not recommended them.
