G+_Jason L Chapman
Merry Christmas everyone. Did anyone get any cool tech this Holiday season? What was it? Personally, my wife got me a Sony NEX 5n compact camera system. I love it. Keep in mind for you shutterbugs, I am upgrading from a Fujifinepix s5200 fixed lens 5mp camera. So big ups to my wife!! G+_David Wages
I got an iPad fourth generation. This is a sweet piece of technology. Everything from speed to the retina display to the apps. Wow. I also got my mother Apple TV. Very cool and convenient but I'm more excited about the potential. I don't use many of the apps on it. Only use the music, movies and sometimes YouTube. My ps3 has a better UI for Netflix so I'm all over that.
G+_A.J. Bobo
I was given a 4th Generation iPad that I gave to my wife so that I could get a Nexus 7. Both of us love our new gadgets.
G+_David Wages
Why made you ditch the iPad to get the Nexus 7?
G+_A.J. Bobo
A bunch of reasons: First, my wife was looking for a new laptop and the iPad does what she needs. Second, I've been using Android phones for several years so I know Android really well and own a ton of apps for it already. Third, I can develop for Android on my PC and I don't own a Mac that I could use to develop for iOS. Fourth, I actually found the iPad to be too big and heavy. The smaller form factor of the Nexus is really nice.
G+_Roy Hembree
I got a Wacom Bamboo stylus for use on my Nexus 7. Otherwise it was a no tech year.
G+_A.J. Bobo
How are you liking the stylus? Which apps do you use it with?
G+_Fabian Manino
I did get my wife a a Nexus 7. This was even after a friend got her a galaxy Tab 2 7in. The Samsung unit seemed so bloated with samsung specific apps. She was not sure she still needed the nexus 7, but after a few hours of using it, she loves it. G+_Roy Hembree
The stylus is pretty sweet but the bummer with it is that if your hand touches the screen while using it the tablet reads the input from your hand, as if you're attempting two-finger input or something. I'm using the stylus for every app except for Fruit Ninja. I downloaded Adobe's Sketchbook and some other note taking app and I love this stylus for it. G+_David Wages
I agree +A.J. Bobo that the iPad is a bit on the heavier side for a tablet. I've only used iOS products but I'm a huge fan of google and what they bring to the table. So you have the iPad as a computer and your Nexus for apps, reading, games, etc? G+_A.J. Bobo
David Wages Yeah. Basically my wife is using the iPad the same way she used her laptop before it died. Email, Facebook, photo editing, simple gaming. Things that the iPad is really good at. My Nexus is for reading, games, basic web browsing. I still have my work laptop for when I need to do real work.
