G+_Linda Thompson
I have a general computer question. I use a windows computer and would like to use a duplicate file finder. Is there a particular program people have used and liked?
G+_Akira Yamanita
I’ve only tried some for particular a use case and didn’t find any that were useful for safe bulk operations. If that’s not important, there are many that would probably suffice, but it’s been so long that I can’t specifically name any that I’ve tried. G+_Jeff Gros
AgentRansack. Allows for "brute force" file searching that windows doesn't seem to do for any editions XP. Mandatory for software development because I cannot wait for windows to index my changes! Note that AgentRansack uses the '|' symbol for an 'OR' when you are searching for multiple file types. Use "*.c | .h" instead of ".c, *.h". I use a autohotkey script to allow for pulling up a search window in WindowsExplorer via Ctrl+F (and defaults to search that directory). I'm also mad that Microsoft redid the calculator app. Microsoft "improved" the calculator app by categorizing functions. As a software developer, I often have to change from hex to decimal (programmer mode), and then take that value and perform a logarithm (scientific mode). Its annoying to have to change modes, but that's not the real issue. The real issue is that the accumulator is not preserved when you change modes! Damnit! To fix this, I've always brought along the Windows XP version of the calculator (which worked just fine, thank you very much!), and added it to the shortcuts folder so it shows up in a StartMenu search. G+_Paul Hutchinson
Oops, I misread the request, Doh! Sorry I don't know of a good stable duplicate file finder the only ones I use I wouldn't recommend to non-experts (my definition of expert, someone who would never ask here) Original oops reply left to show my mistake for posterity. I second Jeff Gros's suggestion, Agent Ransack. mythicsoft.com - Agent Ransack – Mythicsoft
