Ok KITAs—. I’ve heard about IOS-11 and WiFi/Bluetooth not actually turning off unless you do it through settings.

But, has anyone heard of an IOS-11 draining batteries even when the phone is off? On two occasions now, I’ve turned my iPhone off at the beginning of a plane flight at 87% charge and then when I turned it on at the end of the flight it was around 35%. Within a few minutes after turning it on it was down to 27%.

I’ve heard that after updating and the phone resetting that it can take a few charge cycles for the phone to “re-learn” the battery. However, this happened after almost 2 weeks worth of overnight, full charge cycles.

Has anyone else experienced this? Anybody know any solutions?

What model iPhone? I had a 6 Plus, and about once a month my battery would be flaky... I'd use it for most of the day, and my battery would be at about 45%... wouldn't use it for an hour or so, then look at my battery, and it's at 10%... then poof, it's dead... but then I plug it into a charger, and all of a sudden my battery is at maybe 65% and it's good for the rest of the day. Maybe it's something based on that? Probably not, but figured I throw it out there. I now have an 8 Plus, and there is a HUGE difference, for the better, on battery life. Maybe the battery was going bad in the 6 plus I had.

Never heard about "re-learning" the battery, and it would seem weird that an OS update would require that. The only thing close to that is that I've replaced batteries in iPhones, and they recommend running that new battery to below 10%, then charging uninterrupted to 100%, just once after the battery install.

How soon after your iOS 11 update did this start happening?

The battery in my iPhone 6 was shot after 2 years even though I thought I didn't everything right. Charged it when possible, seldom let it die, usually didn't even let it get below 50%. After iOS 10, I think, it started dying faster and would shut off around 15% then say 2% when on the charger.

So Ken Jancef??? may have it right on the model/age of the phone.
