G+_joseph
Let me play devil's advocate here: What if Tom Merritt also agreed to this and thus giving him more local opportunities in LA? Yes, Tom is awesome. Yes, the show will be different without him. Yes, the change will be difficult BUT the show's evolution must continue. Leo Laporte is in the business of making quality programming. They noticed the change in quality of Tech News Today (from a management point-of-view at least). Let's give Mike Elgan a chance in the role before we jump to conclusions. Everyone freaked out when Eileen Rivera left All About Android. Honestly, even though Eileen brought the show to life, Gina Trapani brought her developer knowledge to the show which was a missing piece of the show. Regardless if you like Gina or not, she's the only regular host that answer technical Android OS questions with ease. So in conclusion, let's CALM DOWN and see what happens. TWiT is growing y'all. Which means, growing pains will come along with it.?
G+_Preston Grisham
There is a lot of discussion on Google+ about this today, which I am glad to see as you wouldn't see this anywhere else. I agree, Tom Merritt was great on the show but people need to give Mike Elgan a chance before they start fleeing the network.

G+_Matt Lyons
The internet hates change. I'm sure TWiT and Mike Elgan both knew this and know that it'll blow over soon enough. ? Mike will do great on TWiT, Tom will do great things on his own (which I'll be watching as a huge fan) and the world will keep spinning. ?
G+_Gordon Smith
Tom sais on twitter he wishes it was different. So no, I don't think he's 'in on this'.
G+_Nick Young
I have not heard anyone say they are "fleeing" the network. People are sad, worried and supporting Tom by letting him know they will watch his future projects closely. The "internet" also always trying to make things two sided, black or white, right or wrong. This a very say day for everyone who loves Tom, but it does not make Leo Laporte or Mike Elgan a bad person just for replacing him. I am also taking a wait and see approach, but my heart is still heavy at the loss of Tom Merritt.
G+_Q. Davis
Well regardless, Gordon Smith, Tom Merritt has like 57 shows. Lol. I'm sure he'll would be fine. Can't win them all. At least Leo and TWiT managers gave it a fair shot.
G+_Vance McAlister
No, this is not something Tom wanted or agreed to. This was not mutual. This was a termination.
G+_Jeremy Oelke
Q. Davis I wholely agree about AAA they traded an Android fangirl in a show full of fan boys. As well Eileen Rivera got what she wanted too.
G+_Shane Simmons
"Regardless if you like Gina or not, she's the only regular host that answer technical Android OS questions with ease." I honestly like Gina better. She knows what she's talking about, and imho the most professional person on the show. And if you're reading this, Ron, hey, I've got a vanity G+ URL, whine some more (just not on AAA, please, ach, enough with the whining)
G+_Ron K Jeffries
All shows could be MUCH better if they reduced the chatter and delivered more on-topic information and analysis. The Windows Weekly show has been off the rails lately. Earth to hosts: it's NOT an XBox show or a "Damn! I do love video games" show. Some mention of XBox is cool, but please focus on the vast amount of Windows information/analysis that the hosts can contribute.
G+_Shane Simmons
Ron K Jeffries That's the main reason I don't bother with the main TWiT show much anymore. It's almost entirely chatter. Don't get me wrong, it's often entertaining, but if I wanted to listen to journalists rant while getting sloshed I'd still be working in the newspaper business.
