G+_Roger Wiechman
Fr. Robert, I have to take issue with some of the things you said on the recent KH concerning RC drive components, in particular, the motors. The 'third' wire on a brushless motor is not a sense line, but rather is connected directly to coils. The motor is actually a 3-phase AC motor, with all leads driven. The phase rotation controls the direction and the frequency of the AC drive controls the speed. The ESC is actually a 3-phase signal generator where the radio is controlling the frequency of the drive applied. Best, Roger
G+_Daniel Armstrong
Technically, without a shaft resolver/position sensor all 3 leads are drive and sense both.
G+_Chris W
And how about the radio.. "the RF from the transmit crystal resonates the receive crystal"? Really?? No, that never happens, has never happened. Received RF is mixed with the receive frequency generated by the crystal. eesh..
