G+_Bill (CryptoMoore)
I saw the latest episode on home network wiring and I think I may have some "noise" or "interference" in my current wiring so I was wondering if someone could provide specifics on the tools used for this. Specifically the network tester and also perhaps make suggestion on both the "pro" and "non-pro" tools that essentially do the same for less $$$. (Perhaps even a way to provide an Amazon Affiliate link... ) Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Bryan Burnett
G+_610GARAGE
I actually had the same problem. It turned out to be that the wires weren't in the right order. So TX+ and TX- weren't on the same twisted pair. The tester that told me this is a Klein Tools VDV Scout Pro. It's nothing like what Fr. Robert had, but its good in finding shorts, crossed wires, and non connected wires. I got it at Homedepo.
G+_Grant Phillips
This tool is what I use. It confirms that each wire is connected and on the right pin, http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009YTNTN8
