I tried running both PS3 Media Server and the Universal Media Server and I could not get a connection between the PC and PS3. Any suggestions?

First make sure they are both on the same network. Restart both. If that does not work try running network setup again on your ps3.

The drop down menu in both programs does not show my network in both Universal Media or PS3 Media Server. Going through the media player settings on Windows 8 just show my Xbox 360.

Something in your windows 8 firewall might be blocking it. Do you have a win7 machine you can try it on?
