Robert Ballecer, SJ , in KH 129 you were talking about ethernet wiring and you mentioned that the reason for the pin order was crosstalk, physics, etc. I think your audience, aka Know It Alls, would want some more details: 1. Pairs 1/2 and 3/6 are similar colors because they are twisted to their partner. This is what reduces crosstalk and improves speed. (Physics!). 2. The blue pair is in the center 4/5 pins for backwards compatibility with a regular phone lines. This is why the pairs aren't next to each other all the way down the connector.
