I am a big fan of this idea! This is the true spirit of the internet. If something goes down, route around the problem. I only wish BitMessage was better at scaling.

It's not bad, but the problem is the aggregate bandwidth is directly tied to the number of viewers available. That, and the bandwidth costs are then distributed to the viewers by way of bandwidth limitations that exist for most users, plus the overage fees that correspond with surpassing the limit. It would definitely be an option, however not one that would be sufficient for the majority of users on a day to day basis.

Doesn't he already use some kind of but torrent video stream? I remember watching him talk to the team behind it and seeing it as a streaming option.

IT was tried and from what I remember was unstable and inconsistent, not for the world of the 5-9's world (99.999% uptime) I'm sorry to say
