G+_Jeff Brand
This week in Jeff's KH notes... Bryan Burnett, the pronunciation of "Puch" is "pook" not "pyyuuuke." :) Occasionally I hear someone pronounce it "pooch." Puch is the name in 50cc mopeds. There are lots of other brands out there, but there's a large community around this brand and tons of parts available for its E50 motor. Not bad 40-year-old vehicles. I'm a Honda man myself, and every time I find myself looking for an odd, long-unavailable replacement part I really wish I had one of those motors. As for the electric bike featured, I don't recall if you mentioned the top speed but on the east coast (NY, VT, NH, MA, etc.) anything designed to go faster than 30mph requires a motorcycle endorsement on a drivers license. The exact laws vary by state: NY uses top speed (30+ mph). VT uses engine capacity and transmission type (over 50cc and/or manual gears.) Saying that the Bolt has an equivalent to a 100cc motor would likely pass into that class, unless they're electronically restricted (which would be a darn shame.) I look forward to my kids tinkering with them in 30-40 years. ;)
