My dad bought me solder kits etc and was always fascinated by the amount of components. I work for an arcade company and when I lived in Sacramento I was lucky to be able to have fry’s close to buy specifics small electronic components for my jobs. I now live in Cincinnati and the closest thing is a micro center which is like a condensed fry’s. They have an excellent 3d printer filament selection and computer component selection but the electronic components are lacking compared to fry’s. The closest fry’s is in fishers Indiana.
