G+_610GARAGE
So I've done some house hold electrical work. Made some repairs on damaged cords, but this is ridiculous. Requiring truck loads of liquid nitrogen, using car batteries and millivolt meters to find the problem, and over 8hrs of welding (not continues) just to repair a short in an underground main power wire. Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Maybe this would make a good parting shot? http://hackaday.com/2015/07/27/find-and-repair-a-230kv-800amp-oil-filled-power-cable-feels-like-mission-impossible/
G+_Martin Wallgren
Back when I was in the navy, we used LN2 the same way. If there was a component in a pipe that we needed to open and work on and it wasn't practical to drain all the water from the system we would use 'freeze plugs' on each side of the component and do the repairs. It works remarkably well.
