G+_jan s
im looking for an economical DVR box and initially thought about #simple.tv dvr. However there were multiple reviews from folks that this product is slow and its interface is clunky. Are there any good alternatives which are available in market and their costs? Appreciate your comments !

G+_Rob Saw
Ryan Murray I love my npvr htpc, but I'd struggle to call it economical - it is cheaper than my old cable box given that I am not paying their subscription and the flexibility is great, but the hardware is not super cheap and I doubt that the power consumption is as good... G+_Ryan Murray
Ceton is good if he has TV but I don't have TV and just download my shows its all automated and then I use belvedere to clean up old files after 3 weeks.
G+_Rob Saw
Legal issues aside, you are relying on someone else to record and upload.. Fine if you only watch the big shows, but not so great if you want some minority interest show. As things stand, it actually is a valid alternative although I wouldn't count on it to stay around in the longer term.
G+_Mike Flanagan
Windows media center does a fine job the only thing I need to rent from the cable provider is a cable card for 3 bucks monthly?
