G+_Paul Darr
I was listening to Episode 96 this morning and I noticed there was a little discussion about the Ouya and backwards compatibility. It seemed the discussion jumped to forward compatibility in a confusing manner. Most consoles do not promise backwards compatibility of games. Console makers often change media types so gamers are forced to purchase new media to play games on new consoles. The makers of the Ouya are just promising you will be able to play the old games on new hardware that is connected to your account. This is a very nice thing for the consumer. The makers of the Ouya have not promised forwards compatibility. That would be playing new games on older hardware. Presumably system requirements for games will require gamers to upgrade the hardware for new software at some point. It just seemed everyone was confusing the two terms. G+_A.J. Bobo
Thanks for pointing this out. The issue of forward/backward compatibility is often a confusing one for people.
G+_Santos Cardona
I am on a tegra 2 (toshiba thrive) now and used to be on the nook color. There are very fine tweakers out there and I had Nova running on my nook color. Hoping that the ouya will be as popular with tweakers to push it farther longer. So maybe newer games won't matter if work around are made. Okay I feel a rant was just made. Sorry. Don't know if I'll buy an ouya. I have an hdmi dock for my thrive and a Moga controller so I'm all set for now.
G+_Brad Dux
True; however, current consoles last longer than a year. The Ooya will only be the latest device getting the best games for one year.
G+_Jagannath Moorthy
Santos Cardona I once owned the Thrive, but got rid of it in a hurry due to its heft and bad screen/audio. Did toshiba ever release ICS for the Thrive?
G+_Santos Cardona
Jagannath Moorthy Yes we have ics toshiba released it in the summer. I got a rooted version from thriveforums.org. There is even CM10 for it. What did you get to replace it? Heft is an issue but I don't mind it. Fire sale on most accessories at bensoutlet.com.
