So I need help...

I know Pocket Casts is a fan favorite so I'm asking here..

Personally, I've been using Doggcatcher for since the Cupcake days... however the recent material design update of Pocket Casts has tempted me.

I purchased Pocket Casts ages ago and I'm trying to get the same level of granular auto-downloads as I can get in Doggcatcher but I just don't see it.

I'd like choose how many episodes the app will auto-download per show.

For example, a show that airs more than once a week, I'd like to keep two episodes and if I haven't listened to it by the time a third episode is available, it auto-deletes the oldest one. A show that airs once a week, I'd like to keep one episode on my device and if I haven't listened to it by the next episode, it'll auto-delete the older episode.

This is how I've had Doggcatcher set up forever.. I feel like I'm missing something in Pocket Casts and If it is unable to do this simple thing, why is it so beloved?

As I said, at this point it's simply an aesthetic thing because the new #MateriYOLO  update is pretty.. so I won't be heartbroken if I end up sticking with Doggcatcher... I just feel like I'm missing something here.

Nathan Gugliotti Duncan Jaffrey AHA no wonder I couldn't find it. It was a general setting in Doggcatcher for "Global" auto-downloads and then you went into each podcast and tweaked it to your liking. That's perfect. Thank you.

My last gripe (that I just now realized) is that I can't seem to manually organize the autoplay order of the podcasts. Is that something I'm missing as well? Or will it just play them in order of date?

Alternatively, try BeyondPod https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.beyondpod , which has the per-feed download/keep features that you want, and the ability to set rules for multiple SmartPlay lists (e.g. oldest 2 unplayed episodes from feed/category a, then newest one from another, oldest 3 from another, etc.) It can automatically generate different types of playlists for different situations - or you can just have one SmartPlay list. See http://www.beyondpod.com/cms/index.php/playing-episodes-with-smartplay

Randy Strye??, regarding your question about "manually organiz[ing] the autoplay order", it seems that you might be referring to the "Up Next" playlist.

Simply tap the currently queued podcast at the bottom of the screen to bring it up full-screen with playback controls. Next swipe the screen from right to left to access the "Up Next" list.

From here you can tap and drag the handles on the right side of each queued podcast to manually re-order them. Hope that helps! ?
