G+_Mathew Hoffman
Pulse SMS? Is anyone using Pulse SMS? After years of use, I decided to port my Google Voice number over to my carrier. Much of Google Voice is now either a feature of the android phone app or provided by my carrier, though I'm still using GV for voicemail/transcription backend. I do miss the desktop integration that GV provided, but I found Pulse SMS and I'm trying it out. Looks rather sweet. Any feedback from current or former users? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.klinker.messenger
G+_Patryk Michalik
I used Pulse for some time but after finding some annoying issues I switched back to Android Messages.
G+_Gregory Benn
Patryk Michalik Thanks. Care to elaborate on the annoying issues?
G+_Patryk Michalik
Gregory Benn? When I reply right from the notification on Nougat, I should see the message and my reply in the expanded notification. Instead, I see the whole conversation. G+_Vito Sgotto
Looks like a nice app, but is it really a true replacement for Google Voice?? (In other words, will it receive phone calls on any device?) ?
G+_Joseph Cappellino
I've been using Hangouts with Project Fi/Google Voice integration for years. I haven't tried am SMS replacement in about as long, other than Android Messages.
G+_Gregory Benn
Vito Sgotto it's not a replacement. And it doesn't really ring any device like GV. But without GV my calls go through immediately, I have HD Voice, all short codes work, and SMS integration with my vehicle's head unit works. It's not really a replacement, but pros vs cons and decision to port.
G+_Vito Sgotto
Thanks Gregory Benn?. The other option I was considering is simply porting my Voice number over to Verizon. The only drawback I can think of is losing the ability to make/receive calls through my PC and/or tablet. Have any thoughts? ?
G+_Gregory Benn
Vito Sgotto That's why I'm trying Pulse SMS. It allows me to send/receive SMS from my PC and/or tablet. I cannot make calls though.
G+_L I
There really is no replacement to Google Voice. You can get some features here and some there but not the total package. I'm glad they didn't abandon it.
