G+_Mike Flanagan
Any one looking for a tether app for the nexus 5 this one works extremely well and is pretty full featured. Well worth $1.95.? **Requires Root** https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter
G+_Brian Walling
Wifi tethering is native in Android. Why would you buy an app if you have root? All the ROMs have it. ?
G+_Mike Flanagan
Brian Walling the native tethering on the stock nexus 5 is blocked by Sprint.
G+_Brian Walling
But you have root. You can install any stock, deodexed ROM and it will not be blocked...unless something has changed in Kit Kat. That's the main reason many people root their phones. G+_Mike Flanagan
I just wanted root for a few apps but didn't want to go flashing Roms again. At least not yet want to have the stock experience as this is my first nexus phone plus this app has a lot of features added on such as port forwarding etc..... G+_Brian Walling
Cool. Just don't like when developers try to make money on something that is already there from Google. I have used Foxfi in the past, but that was for an unrooted phone.
G+_Mike Flanagan
Yes I don't mind supporting a Dev that's adding functionality.
G+_Roman Quicksilver
Thought it was anti-Android to pay for an app?? ;-)
G+_Mike Flanagan
Apparently that is the general consensus.
G+_Brian Walling
I have donated to all the ROM developers I have used in the past. They do great work and that money is hidden from Play Store numbers.
G+_Mike Flanagan
As a former ROM Dev I did receive several donations for my effort. I agree its a shame that number is not reflected anywhere.
G+_Mike Andrews
Tethering works out of the box on my Nexus 5 on AT&T. Shhhhh....
G+_Julie Wills
I'm so glad I live in the UK, where it's unheard of for any of the carriers to disable tethering. Carrier prices are way cheaper too. They may penalise you after the event (e.g. suspend / throttle your data) if you're not supposed to use it, but that's all. I've never had any Android (or Symbian) phone or SIM card that I couldn't tether to out of the box.
