G+_All About Android
Episode 239 of All About Android needs you to click something. By clicking, you tell us which app is your favorite this week and that makes us happy. [edit on Nov. 11, 2015] Hearing from a LOT of people that Shine Launcher 3D is a straight ripoff of TSF Launcher and is also resulting in lots of spammy notification messages. We have removed the download link for Shine and in its place is the link for TSF Launcher. If you liked what you saw on the show, the launcher you should install is TSF. It's the real deal. Sorry for the confusion.[edit] Slickdeals https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.slickdeals.android TSF Launcher (...was Shine Launcher 3D) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tsf.shell Apple Music https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apple.android.music Podkicker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ait.podka
G+_Benjamin Haube
All the apps kinda sucked this week.

G+_Jimmy
I thought they were pretty good apps. I would never install Shine Launcher 3D, but I very much enjoyed watching Ron demo it.
G+_Steve Douglas
I tried Shine Launcher 3D, but it does those annoying spam notifications for other apps. When you block notifications from the app it won't stay system persistent. Can't find any settings for it. A shame, since it was pretty nifty otherwise. Notice that, Ron Richards???? G+_Randy Fasnacht
Shine launcher appears to be an app copied directly from TSF launcher 3D Shell.
G+_Steve Douglas
Randy Fasnacht? nails it. Looks like Shine dude just copied the apk and (barely) modified it. And with the spam notifications it's even worse. Still, if you like one you should like the other, so Shine's votes should count for TSF.
G+_Paul Werner
One thing to note about Slickdeals wasn't demoed in the show was the custom notifications for whatever you want. I love just typing out the product and waiting for deals to flood in at any random point
G+_Tim Elliott
I was going to vote for Shine till I found out it was a rip off of TSF. TSF seem to be completely free with no spam notifications, just themes you can buy.
G+_Ron Richards
Hey Steve Douglas Randy Fasnacht Tim Elliott and everyone...whoa, absolutely did not realize this. Ugh. I didn't get the spam notifications for the app. I reinstalled it today fresh and sure enough, got one. Talking to Jason about how to handle. My apologies for this! In the meantime, after looking at TSF Launcher 3D, I definitely recommend it! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tsf.shell&hl=en

G+_Timothy Wright
Was so close to picking Podkicker, but then I realized playback speed adjustment is an absolute must for me with any audio, books or podcasts. So I had to give it to Slickdeals
G+_Steve Douglas
Just bought a printer thanks to installing Slickdeals after the show. I had to turn off deal notifications...at least until my next paycheck.
G+_Steve Douglas
Since TSF is the same exact app as Shine, with the exception of a few more features (like plugins and themes from the Play Store), I think you should really count all the Shine votes for TSF and just announce it as such. I don't think you can edit a poll on G+ or that'd be a good option.
G+_Jeremiah McCoy
Yeah, I am another who got the spammy, almost virus like notifications on Shine. I will check out TSF, because I liked the overall design.
G+_Benjamin Haube
Jason Howell For what it's worth, the show was just as good as it always is. P.S. I think Ron is gonna go with the Nexus 5X. If he is anything like me, that is. I like the 6P, but I chose to go with the 5X for the smaller size and I couldn't be happier.
G+_Ron Richards
UPDATE Steve Douglas Randy Fasnacht Tim Elliott etc. As you can see, we changed the link in the poll to TSF Launcher and I've contacted the developer of Shine 3D - hopefully they respond - either way, we'll be discussing on next week's show
G+_Randy Fasnacht
Ron Richards you're a class act Ron. Nicely done.
G+_Steve Douglas
Cool -- can vote in good conscience now. Looking forward to hearing the AAA team's take on this on-air!
G+_W. Moya (moya036)
Timothy Wright Podkicker does not have that playback speed adjustment functionality natively, but you you can enable it through an extension in the paid version (currently, just increase the playback speed). Was really nice to heard about the app in the show, I have been using it for years and it just works so perfectly that I can not convince myself to try anything else. G+_Tim Elliott
Did anyone see a battery hit with TSF 3D Launcher? Those cool effects are nice but are not that useful. I do like that shortcut screen with contacts and settings. Hard to beat the familiarity of Nova launcher.

G+_Rob Phelps
hmmm...if it was just to point of showcasing cool apps, I’d have no qualms … but with the competitive spirit of the Arena, and Ron's palely veiled enthusiasm to win for the year, I don’t think it right to change the app link. You tote it, you sell it, you showed it off for the votes… maybe you fail to read some of the comments or even have it run on a device for more then a day, otherwise there may have been some mention of the nag pop-ups, I think the lumps for a bad sale should be taken just like the wins. ...feels a little “bait-n-switchy”…
G+_Steve Douglas
I don't think Ron is nearly as competitive as he used to be--way back when Eileen was still on they started focusing more on showcasing apps than personal wins. I think switching the app link is important for trying to punish the ripoff developer and help the ripped-off developer. (Besides...it's losing anyway, pretty handily...)
