G+_Michael Keepper
Jason Howell? I bought a Huawei Ascend Mate 2 at a special discounted sale price. I put it on the Ting Network which now has both CDMA (Sprint) and GSMA (T-Mobile). I am connected to Ting via T-Mobile. The Huawei device connects better than my Nexus 4 to the T-Mobile network. Plus the Huawei has amazing battery life! After 6 1/2 days I still have 25 percent battery left with light use. Overnight it only uses about 2 percent battery. That is doze like! The Huawei only has Jelly Bean plus a bad Emotion UI skin, but I use the Google Now launcher to give it a more stock like Android setup. Again, amazing battery which is more like the old flip phone experience. FYI
G+_Jason Howell (raygun01)
Nice! I really liked that device, esp because of the battery. Huawri's shaky update history is a downside though.
G+_L I
How does it work with T-Mobile's bands? Does it do 1700/2100 or are you in an area with reframed 1900 support?
G+_Michael Keepper
Lionel D? it works very well on T-Mobile. It is supposed to be optimized for LTE. It always has at least 2 bars where my Nexus 4 has no bars. My house is in a T-Mobile dead zone mostly. Outdoors is better. I have no idea about the bands. G+_L I
Michael Keepper maybe you're in an area where you get T-Mobile LTE but not HSPA+. Did you mod the Nexus 4 to get LTE?
G+_Michael Keepper
Lionel D? No! I do not do "Mods". My Nexus 4 is strictly Stock Android. In one hand, the Nexus 4 and in the other the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 - both on T-Mobile - the Mate has a signal but not the Nexus. Obviously different radios. The Ting T-Mobile network must be different from the regular T-Mobile that the Nexus is connected to which is mostly a 2G signal according to the Sensorly app.
G+_Michael Keepper
Jason Howell? when I got the Huawei, they said that they would update the device from Jelly Bean to Lollipop by the end of the June. Still no Lollipop yet!
G+_L I
Michael Keepper my guess is that you just didn't have T-Mobile HSPA+ coverage there. They've been much better with their LTE rollout, from what I read and experience. It's also one of the reasons I wanted to mod my N4 when I got it so I could maximize the chances at getting high speed. Their HSPA+ was pretty fast too.
