G+_James Healy
Apparently, AVAST free on Android is going crazy right now. They seem to have pushed faulty virus definitions. Twitter's going crazy. I uninstalled Avast - anybody have a recommendation for another free virus/malware protection tool for my Galaxy S3? G+_Colin Jones (Ponder - F
Best virus protection ever for mobile devices: the human brain. Stick to trusted sources. Not 100% but then again, neither are anti-virus programs, and your brain won't slow the device.

G+_Jonathan Scruggs
Comodo Mobile Security. The make the best PC security, there's tests that prove that statement. This is a link to all their Android offerings: https://m.comodo.com
G+_Jonathan Scruggs
Jason Edwards iOS is just as vulnerable, but iOS users are not the smarter bunch so they don't realize that. Case in point, the LinkedIn app forwarding all email to LinkedIn servers. Major security violation.

G+_Tim Box
I recommend this "one weird trick". Do not download APK's from sites other than the Google play store. Simple.... No anti virus needed, Anti virus apps on android are all BS
G+_Jean-François Phillips
Tim Box since 4.2 even side loaded apps are scanned for malware, just as all other apps in the Play Store, so really, there isn't any need for virus software.
G+_Duane Peters
Tim Box you're correct on the 1st part of your statement but I beg to differ on the last, to say anti virus app are all BS is a bit much. Are any of the AV apps perfect? Far from it and most are just a joke but there are some good ones that help.
G+_Jean-François Phillips
Duane Peters trouble is that it's the AV companies that are scaring users into thinking that they need to install their software.

G+_Duane Peters
Peter Vassiliou the iPhone is a good phone but that's a false statement as was proven in an above statement. Not to mention an AV on Android is only really useful (for what it's worth) if you are side losing apps which is simple in Android that would be the equivalent of a jailbreak in iOS to load app outside the apple app store. As someone who have used an iPhone it's easy to get infected if your doing that sort of stuff.

G+_Sebastian Feiler
thanks everybody for the feedback. I do not sideload apps. However, I appreciate having some sort of security and anti theft software on my device. I am not sure if everything in the Play Store is free of malware. Does Google really scan all those apps as thoroughly as Apple does in the App Store?
G+_Duane Peters
Sebastian Feiler yes they scan the apps but a bigger problem to keep an eye out for is the permission some app request before install. If your unsure don't install that's my philosophy.
G+_Marc T Zicari
avast! Antivírus has already fixed the issue. Over an hour ago. I am sticking with them.
G+_Jonathan Scruggs
Comodo Mobile Security has a permission thing. It's a good app that does a lot more than just Antivirus. I started using it because I used their desktop software for Windows 8 -- one of the first ones compatible back in the beta stages when I was trialing it. They are one company that is dedicated to securing the Internet, it's their whole business. They weven have scanners for MacOS and Linux. There are viruses and malware for MacOS despite what Apple fans say. No software is virus free. I really wish people would still deluding themselves into thinking their perfect system is perfectly virus free. You really do need to be careful out there. I'm a software and network engineer.? G+_Sebastian Feiler
they noticed the problem with the faulty definitions after a while. This is why not every user of the program experience is this issue. I am going to reinstall of us shortly. The problem is fixed now. But I was a little bit shocked. After all, my phone was rendered useless for about 2 hours. This should not happen. Just imagine if something went wrong with their theft protection and you would lose complete control over your phone...
G+_Joe Phillips
Why get AV solution when the NSA has yer back, and they're already in-there? I think the tapping program could get some "grass roots" support if they rebrand it Obamascan. Im all seriousness though, I use Malware bytes on Win7 and Android.
