G+_Elizabeth Whitmire
Apple seems to have loosened their grip on secrecy regarding upcoming products and availability. In the past, according to my memory, anyway, they wouldn't let info like this out until the day it's available for order or preorder. I'm really looking forward to a TWiT review on the new Mac Pro! G+_todd zimmerman
Could be a purposeful leak. With Christmas quickly approaching, if you'd know the date for the Pros release, you'd might hold the money for the Pro rather than spend the cash on some less desired? gift

G+_Damian Mongru
I think there are a number of things that make this different to other recent Apple releases. Firstly, this product was previewed and announced a long time ago. Usually the product is released in a very short time period after the related Apple event. Therefore, they needed to put a press release out to say that it is now ready to buy. Secondly, I thought they said it would be out this year, and announcing the release date a day before isn't the biggest security leak, or the sign of a new caring sharing Apple. Finally, if someone is getting this as a Christmas present, I'm not jealous but I'm serious impressed. I think this is a different kind of purchase (e.g. business) and this announcement isn't trying to influence gift purchases. What is amazing is that Apple announce a release date, and the release date itself (not the product) is being analysed (and then idiots like me comment on it). I think we're reading a lot more into this than there exactly is.
