G+_Phil Chung
Has anyone got two-step authentication switched on for DropBox? I have and previously used Google Authenticator to generate a code. However, having recently changed my phone, I now cannot get back in to DropBox even with the emergency backup code generated when I first set up two-step authentication. Is there any way of getting them to send the six digit code via SMS instead?
G+_David Pick
Are you not using Android on your new phone?
G+_Phil Chung
Yes I am, but to set up Authenticator for Dropbox, I need to log in to Dropbox so I can scan the QR code.
G+_David Pick
I would contact Dropbox if you can't use your old phone to login. I'm accustomed to Google Authenticator with a 6 digit number. I've never used the QR code method.
G+_Phil Chung
The QR code is just to set up Authenticator for Dropbox and I can't do that without logging in to Dropbox. That was what the emergency backup code was supposed to be for - logging in when you can't use Authenticator. I've successfully paired my phone with Google and Microsoft with their backup codes. It's just Dropbox that's the problem. It's a good job I don't have much stuff on Dropbox. It's just some sync data from a couple of apps I'm after. I've contacted Dropbox. Hopefully they'll be able to help.
