G+_George Kozi
"The Chromebook is just a browser with a keyboard attached to it" says Paul Thurrott on Windows weekly. I agree. However, almost all the things I need to do, can be done well in the browser with the keyboard. Moreover, the price is right. That's all. Passing thought: I think I know why Microsoft is so freaked out about the Chromebook. It is because making something that could compete with it, would mean making and trying to sell a IE - Bing machine...

G+_George Kozi
It was about those apparently good sales numbers for Chromebooks over the holiday period. I don't think Leo is a fan, but he seems to slowly warm up to the idea that they are useful for certain people.
G+_George Kozi
There has been a sea change since the days of the notebook. The cloud and the cloud services have matured. Today it is not any longer weird to live up there.

G+_Matthew Ross
Leo bright it up because a report showed 20% market share for Chromebooks. Paul contested that the number was inaccurate because it was specific markets, not that 20% of all computer sales were chromebooks. I do think that Chromebooks are not for everyone. They do one thing well; they browse the web. Is that enough? That depends on the user and the application. Where I do see chromebooks doing well would be in the education market. They are dirt cheap, they seem reliable, and while a student can consume information on a tablet, they need a real keyboard to write a paper. John Wolf, anybody who owns an Android phone or tablet has "been locked into Google". You can us a chromebook and never use another Google product, if you want. I'm pretty sure you can run Office 365 on one. Even your login into the laptop can be anonymous.
G+_tony taylor
I'm waiting for the Surface RT/2 figures v iPad 2/air and Samsung Note/tab 10 from what I have seen in my job they are developing a following, especially amongst students. New units shipping with 8.1 so the overstock would seem to have gone...
G+_Ian Ray
I have a "Contoso" user on Chromebook and it works okay. It is just loaded with Office Web Apps, Outlook.com, and Ericom AccessToGo for RDP. I am waiting other apps to be integrated with Office Web Apps. There have been some promises, but the Office 365 app store is still mostly just ads for consultants.
G+_Keith Mansfield
Honestly I was a bit of a skeptic myself. I've been amazed at the number of people who say a chromebook and Google apps is all they need. Personally I no longer recommend Windows machines to anyone. I get tired of helping repair and cleaning viruses off of them. Either an Apple machine or Chromebook is all I recommend now.
G+_Philana Crouch
Chromebooks are probably good options for some. I've got software I regularly use that won't work on a Chromebook.
G+_Keith Mansfield
John Wolf I agree completely. Their time is coming they just have not been the primary targets.
