G+_George Kozi
I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing... I tend to think it is kinda bad. Doing math means doing math, not taking a photo. I would even go so far as to say that this is a kind of dumbing down thing. What do you think? G+_William Anderson III
I agree with +Naval Gilles on this one. It could be used in a manner where a person could follow the breakdown of the problem until they get the hang of it. Of course your concern is valid because irresponsible folks could potentially use it as a tool to get over on teachers and fake their way into a good grade without gaining understanding on how to solve math problems. G+_Stephan Vermette
When I was learning Calculus, I was doing everything by hand, but also using Mathcad to verify my answers (pretty much the same idea - type in the equation, and it solves it), and break down the problem to find out where I made mistakes. G+_Stephan Vermette
William Anderson III Sooner or later, a cheater gets found out. If you get an A+ in school, but do crappy in your career, or get found out as an unreliable lying cheater on the job, there are consequences. G+_Eng. Jorge Santana
The truth is that most of the math while working is done by specialize programs. In school or the engineering license exam you need to do them by hand but @Work...
G+_William Anderson III
+Stephen Vermette Inevitably. I agree that sooner or later it will catch up with someone who's cheating. However, it could make catching them a little harder.

G+_Jerry McMurphy
Real world problems (and increasingly school problems) are word problems. Real math is setting up equations and manipulating them. We certainly need to know arithmetic, but once you're in algebra or above, using calculators is fine. G+_Stephan Vermette
Jerry McMurphy Right. Once you've passed the stage of learning the arithmetic, and that the next exercise is figuring out the mechanics of the problem, doing the plusses and minusses can be left to machines.
