Today I went to the shops, nothing special shops, and I payed for my purchases by holding my bank card over the checkout for half a recond. The machine went "blewp" and I was done. EVERYBODY has this technology in their bank plastic, because we have been using embedded pin&chip for years 'n years. So... what is this Apple Pay people are getting so lyrical about?Over here, NFC is ubiquitous. Mike Elgan
G+_Tracey Allen
Not very prevalent in the states. So paying with a phone is really new. We still have to swipe our cards here.
G+_Rick Dupuis
In Canada tap and pay is everywhere. Much more convenient. That's why apple and Google pay workout here.
G+_Damian Mongru
There are a lot of advantages - it is more convenient as it is on your phone (theoretically, no need for a wallet although I'm sure I would carry one as a back-up); more secure with randomised credit card numbers (privacy from hacking at the merchant end, as well as no information about your purchases being used without your consent) and the need for touch ID (as opposed to anyone can use your card if they found it lying around). Here, as these types of transactions are inherently less secure there is a very low maximum daily spending limit, whilst Apple Pay uses your current card and has the same limits. These are just the ones I could think up off the top of my head. Of course there are disadvantages too. As for the CurrentC debate, I could never work out if it was a mainstream outcry against these shops, or just a geek thing.
