Where is innovation happening these days, you ask?

In China. But I'm sure the next generation even thinner phones will help us counterbalance... Seriously, it looks like in a few short years time, we will be running like desperate mad people to catch up with the Chinese...

Yes! WE need thinner phones! RIGHT NOW! <--sarcasim PS. I know your joking George.

As for innovation, I feel like we're too late.

1. China will have a base on the Moon before the U.S..

2. Japan will have robots assisting their elderly before us.

3. South Korea will have faster and better internet than the U.S..

O wait #3 already happened years ago #2 is in the process of happening. And China just lost their equivalents of Skylab. Give them a few years and their station will be larger than the iss if they choose to do it.

I am a veteran of the U.S.A.F. serving 1974 - 1978 when I was proud of our country's accomplishments. Science discoveries, men on the Moon. Leaders in world technology.

Sadely that is no longer the case. The world has passed us by. And with our new Natzy style of government I see no hope for the United States. To quote a famous madman. "Sad".

Asian culture = work for the good of the collective. (Not perfect but Better!)

American culture. = Me, Me, Me, Mine, Mine, Mine, you get your own!

Michael Shada What you just described at the end is socialism/communism.

This is not a better system.

In fact it limits an individual's freedom (and that of groups) by quite alot.

It also limits innovation as everything must be done for the good of the community; if it doesn't help the community then it is considered unnecessary and cannot be done (without consequences).

The problem there is who decides what is good and what is not good for the community? Does everyone have a voice? Who makes the final decision (and does this person o group have to listen to the whole community or can they just do whatever they want)?

Also, it relies on everyone being in agreement........common-sense tells us that people rarely ever agree on anything -- so being in agreement will be a common point of contention among people.

As well as the fact that people will tend to do their own thing, regardless of what is good for the community (people with a hedonistic viewpoint).

Frankly, that isn't any better than we have today.....we still can't seem to agree on the answers to such philosophical questions.

(No political system will ever be able fix that)

William L. DeRieux IV I completely agree with you. Note how I said Asian culture (Not perfect but better)

I really believe a mix of all the isms wound be best.

The only way that can work is when politicians are HONESTLY elected. Which many countries they are Not, Including our own! Not elected by how much money is put in their pockets by special interest groups. (Or individuals) but by POPULAR vote. And not from some rigged electorical college. Which i have NEVER believed in! From the president to the mayor of a town with 5 people, popular vote only!

Until the people take back their government things will remain the same. We get the government we deserve! Live like a lemming, get treated like a lemming.

Michael Shada Like I was saying no political philosophy (or mix of them) will solve the problem.

The problem is that people are human and will tend to do their own thing....there is no requirement that they adhere to said ideology.

Because of that there is no such thing as an Utopian society.

Again, what would be needed is not a political ideology....but the need to change peoples minds (ie activism/advocacy).
