G+_Christopher Chaney
I feel like getting off the internet, stopping my digital footprint completely after Snowdens new report exposes the NSA's ability to crack the majority of online encryption. Pretty much every single email. Makes me sick, this is completely against what Tim Berners-Lee anticipated the internet to be. Does the internet need to go? G+_Steve Huffer
It's too late now; even if you managed to remove every trace of yourself from 'the Internet' (impossible), you will be tagged, photographed, mentioned, 'liked' and followed by almost everybody else. Eventually, you would be identified by your absence and maybe all the more prominent for it too. Recently, I've been thinking that the best tactic in a tug 'o' war that you cannot possibly win (and I don't believe we can ever coalesce general decency to counter wealthy, powerful, organised corruption) is to simply let go of the rope; the US government effectively pursues secret totalitarianism through PRISM (and the UK through Echelon)? Fine, let's press to use this technology for our own benefit, to pursue the massively rich that fraudulently flushed bad debt throughout Europe, wiped out the middle class portfolio and sent us into recession. Let's install CCTV into our governmental offices to observe what they are doing and how they are justifying their positions, and use the same fake 'security' platitudes that are used against us. Of course, we all know that the measures taken by the NSA are useless in a court of law to prosecute real crimes as the information is gathered illegally, but nobody is smartly using this against them; we all seem to be playing the role of the victim. G+_James Grigg
Steve Huffer Well said. I think having independant regulators is the best way forward.
