Was this Sunday's episode (TWiT 509) the worst episode ever?  I have no idea what value Jolie O'Dell adds to any technical conversation.  I really tried to listen to the entire episode but it was painful.  Valley girl conversation?  Drag queen discussion?  Comments about high heels and moshing?  Sorry Leo Laporte  this was perhaps the worst episode of TWiT you guys have ever done.

Well it is your opinion Johnathan. Joliet O'Dell and John Divorak do seem to make a toxic combination for TWIT when they both are guest.

I was surprised Leo agreed to have them both together for a third time now.Joliet O'Dell always does seem the most controversial guest with her opinions.

So I do enjoy the tech news and analysis part of TWiT. I do. But I also enjoy the type of show they put on this past Sunday. I would watch it again. I guess it comes down to expectations and desires. My expectations are simply to be entertained and get an interesting slant on the tech news. Some of that may indeed be tech morality (which Jolie was attempting to speak to, although like any guest she of course has an agenda). John is always great. I think you'll find that everyone has different expectations. Some folks like the hard core analysis that folks like Ben Thompson from Stratechery give. Smart guy and interesting insights. Others will like the lighter side of things. As Penny on The Big Bang Theory said about the Cheesecake Factory menu - They're all good

Jerry Ham I expect a guest on TWiT to understand what is going on in tech and be involved init.  Ms. O'Dell seems to either not care about what is going on in the tech or want to talk about it.

If I want more of a variety show which is what the New Screen Savers is then i will watch and enjoy it.  TWiT is supposed to be a news discusison show and this disappointed

Jolie O'Dell is a very inconsistent guest for me... I think she has some good insights but the right mix of guests is needed. Dvorak is not a good foil for her, imo, as they tend to go into this "tease grandpa' mode...

John, this time, was way off for me... pretty much gave up after the umpteenth "Hail Google/Apple"... In John's case he has been coasting on a "I'm the crotchety old man" schtick for too long... He just doesn't seem interested in analysis as he has made up his mind and that's it.

So yeah pretty poor show imo, I gave up after maybe 15 minutes and switched to something else.

But also this is TWiT which seems to have become more the experimental program. So I'm willing to shut it off.. to be honest I've been getting better in depth info on general tech from DTNS of all things. They did a good in depth on the Tesla battery with a guest who lives in the boonies and pointed out its short comings too. (Though I also did like the prior show w/ Calacanis but I don't think Leo really let him and the guests really get into the topic.)

I agree about the overly long ads ... I appreciated Calacanis steering Leo back into the ads and keeping thins on script.

as always YMMV

Paul Comeau? Maybe I had low expectations with this episode. But I didn't seem to hate it anywhere near as much as others listening live that last hour I was able to listen on my phone that Sunday night.

Their seems to be a growing number tired of Dvorak on the show. I thought his change in attitude might be attributed to him becoming a grandfather and Leo making it clear what he'll tolerate from him on the show.

I don't hate Joliet on the show. But I just wish she wouldn't be paired with John as any chance of a serious discussion gets tossed out the door with them together.?
