G+_Alexander Maxham
I think QR codes are cool, but they never really caught on.
G+_Tim Mattison
Even if they are dead in the consumer space they are still very useful in commercial and industrial applications.
G+_Edwin Braun
There is a better technology:www.deetectee.com This brings all what the industry needs and the customer wants.
G+_Tim Mattison
Edwin Braun can you show us a demo somewhere? The site is very light on details. QR codes are nice in a lot of instances because they can be printed with any kind of printer. It makes it a lot cheaper than something like NFC. Detectee looks like it might not be purely optical which could mean special hardware.
G+_Sean Kingery
I don't think they're dead I just think we're going to start seeing less of them as people start figuring out better ways to use them and really take advantage of there usefulness. G+_Edwin Braun
Tim this technology is meant to get implemented in wearable devices. However anyone with a mobile phone can "scan"
G+_Tim Mattison
Edwin Braun is it based on NFC or a different standard?
G+_Tim Mattison
Jim Jam sorry man. That's not what I was trying to do. I am sure the tech is cool but there's not enough info for me to know what I could do with it. There are things that are pure software based on NFC (NFC task launcher, etc) and I thought this might be something like that. Anyway, how is the NFC support on Windows Phone? Do they have a built in app that lets you script tasks? Honestly I hate to say it but I really like Microsoft's Tag technology but nobody uses it. The read time seems to be faster than QR codes and you can make them look more visually appealing. I doubt that it will gain momentum without significant marketing dollars behind it.
