So, in the middle of last week while I was on holiday. For some reason I turned on the mobile, and switched the data on too. Usually I keep it on wifi only, because I'm cheap. My 50 cent Crapolla Corporation mobile gave me a welcome vibration and went:

"Oh, hello George, how nice to see you. It has been a while, hasn't it. How may I serve you?"

"You want to quickly look up something? Sure, I'll be glad to assist, but first I need to urgently update these essential sixteen apps that you never use , but we think you should have anyway..."

I really don't know what stopped me from doing a medieval Dutch wooden shoe stomp dance on top of the bloody thing.

I HATE the phone manufacturers and the cellphone companies for this. And Google too, because it may act all innocent, but Google isn't above putting stuff on your phone that you didn't ask for.

Now, I can't find the phone, and I'm not sorry about it. I'm not sure if I'll replace it, but if I do, I may very well go for a simple flip phone.?

Unless you turned on Auto update for these particular apps and Auto update over Wi-Fi, the default of Play Store is to require user action to download updates. I don't see why it's Crapolla/Google's fault that the phone doing exactly what you asked it to do.?
