Donald E. Riley No, that isn't true. All you have to do is look at the epidemic of diabetes throughout the world killing millions. High sodium can be harmful and this depends on your age, activity level, environmental temperatures etc. Surely if you have heart disease sodium control of intake can be a very critical issue. Watching what you eat, sodium, potassium and all minerals must be watched by all of us. Surely processed foods generally have added sodium, thus it is always best to make our own food, and to read the labels of all foods that we buy and eat. Diabetes type 2, which is adversely affected by the the intake of simple carbs: foods like: potatoes, rice, bread, sugar & pasta. Unfortunately these simple carbs are also among most of our culture foods that are eaten throughout the world. Thus, telling an Asian person they can no longer eat rice, or a Hispanic individual that corn tortillas, flour tortillas, beans & rice, are not safe to eat, etc. can seem a hardship that they can't survive. ?
