G+_Matt Jenkinson (Crowbar
Mighytext. G+_Chris Lefebvre
You could try using Google voice to text. That will work on both devices.

G+_Alex Ynema
SmsBackup+ syncs your sms to Gmail which works for me. I would love Google Voice if we could use it in Australia though
G+_Ian Pottinger
TabletSMS is a tablet extension for DeskSMS. Both of these apps have worked flawlessly for me and have been by far the best solutions for remotely sending and receiving SMS's. DeskSMS forwards your SMS messages to Google Chat, Gmail, a browser extension, or TabletSMS. Replies from any of those destinations are relay back to your phone for transmission. Because it work via the internet, distance between devices is irrelevant. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.tabletsms

G+_Scott Kelly
I totally understand. I've been using my GV number as my main number for a few years now. GV doesn't have MMS at this point though. So if you need MMS that would pose a problem. I use Path to send pics and video for now. At least until GV includes MMS in their service. G+_Jacqueline Nehama
CloudSMS is the best! You load it onto your phone and tablet. It runs in the background and does not need to be connected repeatedly like tablet talk. Worth the 99 cents. ?

G+_Dave Bach
Google Voice is what I use...but there are a few drawbacks that Google for whatever reason has decided not to address. The need for picture mail (MMS) and the ability to delete more than ten messages at a time.
