So Leo says no one uses google+ well is he right?

Recommended Posts

Ricky Cash Very well stated...I second that emotion. I love my family but they are not very interesting online. G+ will probably never be as widely used as Facebook (at least not for the less tech savvy people) but I personally don't wanna see pictures of my high school valedictorian's pet parrot on G+. G+ is my get away from all that jazz. I come here to get news and information from people that think like me; apparently Leo doesn't think like me...I'm pretty sure I won't lose any sleep over it.

I do see more friends here on google+ these days and I have more people I know asking me if they should be on here. That says something about my friends, many of whom are gay men who have been comfortable with online communities since the days of AOL chat rooms. While tech conversant, they are hardly exclusively employed by the tech industry, and this seems to be the latest online forum they find comfortable. The "circles" and "community" features certainly lend themselves to that.

I personally left Facebook a couple of years ago because of what a muddle it is, and how difficult I found the user experience. I understand that it has become the first place people look for me online, But I find I have a much more immediate interaction with people on twitter and a much more in depth interaction with them here.

As for Leo's "there's nobody on google+" snark, I file it in the same box as his "kickstarter is a scam" rant, It seems clear that there are certain hobby-horses he's going to ride until he discovers something of value in what he grumps about, and then he'll turn cheer-leader.
