Leo Laporte, it's a shame you had to waste a great guest like Tim Stevens on TWIT yesterday by also having Jolie and John on the same show. Many have stated before that Jolie doesn't even seem to like tech and I couldn't agree more. See doesn't even bring a well spoken counterpoint to anything that is discussed. And John... He's become a caricature of himself. He really doesn't seem to care about tech anymore either. And this is not about age: you have plenty of "white-haired" guests that offer wonderful discussion. Even you seemed frustrated with him during the show. I used to love his insight but he is now just there to repeat the same tired "jokes" and tell you what is not a story.

I've appreciated your choice about keeping vallywag style content and guests off of your network. It sets a tone that you wish to convey. However, I've also felt you have also tried to set a tone about the joys of tech. These guests are also antithetical to this tone. There is nothing constructive or fun about them.

I disagreed with your decision to take TNT in another direction, but I understood it. If TWIT is meant to be your fun and interesting show, it suffers when guests like these are on.

Just my $0.02.

Dvorak's shtick has been tiresome for a long time. I enjoy the shows much better when he's not there and usually tap Stop when he is introduced. Seems like Leo has him there just because he's indebted to him for helping start his career. I have no idea why O'Dell was there. She adds nothing to the audio version.

You both seem to forget that some of us do like both of them. And Leo can't cater to just one set of audience members, for any show.  And ask yourself can the same people be available for TWIT every week or maybe these people have other commitments.

I usually watch Twit on youtube, so if there is a point in the show that does not interest me I can be doing something else. But pretty much every time that happens I end up rewinding and listening to something that ends up peeking my interest later on.

As I said above to Joe, I understand it is your opinion and your entitled to express it. It is a given right actually.

As I am with my response, and adding in the fact it is a button issue for me.

And your posting your opinion in a public place where it can be responded to by anyone. Just like the suggestion I posted to this community a short while ago.

I understand, there are a few guests where I am cringing when I hear they are on. This is why I listen to Twit and the other shows but I am also doing something else to where I can zone in and out. It helps that I am ADHD so I can split my attention and zone in and rewind when I miss something that starts peeking my interest.

I was very disappointed as well in this episode.  I don't understand what value Jolie added to the show.  She seems so disappointed in everything technology these days and for some reason has given up on everything.  Except she works for a company that covers technology however that works.  Tim Stevens has great value and great commentary around things and was sad that he didn't have the opportunity to shine and add as much as he normally does.

Not sure what the point of Jolie was except to say "Blah, blah, blah, I hate technology, blah blah blah I don't trust the internet" "The Disney Princess of smartphones..."

I watched Jolie last night live. Something she said kind of struck a cord with me that I couldn't deny. Television is a waste of time. I had just wasted a whole afternoon of beautiful weather trying to adjust some rabbit ear antenna to receive my local CBS station over the air for my hdhomerun tuner to record some shows for later. Was it worth it? Maybe in the long run, but certainly wasn't in the short term. Jolie is different, and her husband understands her. I don't mind her as occasional guest, just not every week. She's not the only anti-tech out their and she's sometimes a good contrast to others on the twit panel.

I haven't watched this show yet but I for one love Dvorak. I typically don't make it through any episode he is not on. The crankier that guy gets the better for me. I like him a lot on TWIT.  I also liked his old show Cranky Geeks but I can't stand his new show. I think we all have our favorites and ones we dislike. I just watch the ones that interest me and skip the others.

I enjoy Dvorak. I got to be in the audience a few weeks back and was glad to see John was there. Jolie is ok, we won't all like every guest, but Leo offers a great network of shows for free. So you can watch another show this week. TWiT should hire Tim for an East Coast morning show.

IMHO, this was one of my least enjoyed shows in a long time. I found little of value or interest from John or Jolie. I like thoughtful balance. They didn't provide that. They seemed to be negative for the sake of being negative or to be funny (which it wasn't) or something. IDK.

I got 20 minutes in and nuked the episode. No thanks.

Personally, Jolie and Dvorak just come off as consistently inauthentic and tend to be more interested in doing their Swanson-lite schtick. I'm sure they're lovely people and I certainly don't mean that comment in a personal way; merely as as a listener/viewer of the program.

I'll come back around next weekend and hope the discussion proves to be better then.

I don't mind either of them individually because I think having a curmudgeonly voice in the mix is a good thing. I think both of them together is too much though. One TechGrouch is enough. I will say that Jolie can come off as judgmental and almost condescending at times. If both are going to be there, I'd like to see an extra counterbalance like Myriam Joire or someone else who can be interested and enthusiastic about technology. Leo was really trying to push through the negativity though so I commend him for that. Jolie does seem to really dislike technology though. From her performances on past shows, it is baffling that she covers the field she does.
