G+_Matt Lyons
What ever happened to Leo Laporte saying he'll only promote products he's used and knows are quality as advertisers? I guess that went out the window with JIRA?
G+_Jeremy Oelke
I believe he says products that anyone at twit would use. For example if twit had a larger female audience and was able to sell female oriented ads, then Leo certainly would not be able to personally endorse those products but certainly others at twit would endorse them. My theory is there is someone at twit that does understand Jira and is able to endorse it in the name of twit.
G+_Michael Pelfrey
Well I was interested. I think a lot of developers and tech guys are in the audience and that matches pretty well to who the product is targeted to. It seemed based on his comments like Leo's been getting some flack about it but I think twit is a good fit for products like this.?
G+_Dan Tate
Aw, c'mon, I saw the show, he said, personally, he had little understanding of how the product worked but people who would use it would appreciate it. That was quite up front and acceptable to me, anyway.
G+_Chris Spaulding
Well, maybe. But I have to say I have purchased a few products from Twit show advertisers solely on Leo's recommendations and I'll admit, there were a couple I was not completely impressed with at all. Namely... G+_Matt Lyons
Dan Tate Oh, I have no idea with how he did it. I appreciate he just came out and said he didn't know what it is. I'm just saying it's different than what I thought the company line was with advertisers, which is only endorsing things that Leo trusts are quality. But it also makes sense that if he doesn't know personally what something is he trusts someone else's opinion. It made for an awkward ad read though, lol. G+_Dan Tate
Matt Lyons I would certainly agree it was an awkward ad. I also wonder how it came about but I don't think it signaled any major change in policy. After all, he could've pretended he did know about it by reading off a script - but kept it honest, instead.
