G+_Kathleen Maltby
Has anyone done any research on the new Kindle Fire's. I want to get one for our 5 year old daughter so we can keep our Nexus 7's. I would get another Nexus 7 for her but Kindle has been getting all the contracts to Disney and Nick and I like the Free time feature. I am just trying to decide if it is worth it to spend $60 more for the HDX. I just can not see kids games being that processor intensive.
G+_George Fromtulsa
If you have the $60 to spend, spend it.I have two current Kindle HDs, the 7 & 8.9. We use them as Kindles, and for that they're fine. But my N7 v2 screen is way better, and the current K HDs are ever so slightly laggy. Everything on the HDX is improved. Switch location. Speaker placement. Weight. Mostly the Quad Core Snapdragon 800 and screen. $60 buys a lot in this case. Does a kid need it? Maybe not. But it all should make for a device good for more than the annual replacement cycle. Be sure to wait until there is a true kid friendly survival case before handing to a five year old and walking away.?
G+_Luis L (monkeyplague)
I think the regular kindle fire would be sufficient for her. I got my kids the kindle fire hd, just before they announced the new ones. And I'm fine with that. I love the kids free time so that I can set time limits and restrict what they can do. G+_George Fromtulsa
Luis Lauranzon Yes. It would. But just the speaker placement at top away from hands, and redesigned power and volume switches are probably worth the $60, if the $60 isn't needed for sustenance. ? G+_Santos Cardona
Kathleen Maltby I use the Xooloo app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xooloo.kids for my son and it works great on all our devices. The Kindle is okay but no Google Play. ?
G+_Ben Gillihan
Hdx would be nice if you have amazon prime. The ability to download shows for the kids to watch offline in the car/planes etc is worth the extra $ to me.
