G+_Paulo Nunes-Ueno
Has this problem with email/exchange synch on Kit Kat been covered on AAA? Seems like a major issue... http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/PMOplIFLGAk%5B501-525-false%5D ?#?KitKatBreaksExchange?
G+_Neil Sedlak
There's a lot of noise on this, but it appears to boil down to these points: 1) Organizations that use client certificates, possibly limited to locally signed rather than global, can't even establish connections. 2) ActiveSync can't apply a server-enforced security policy if it has Require SD encryption and forbids non-compliant devices. 3) A lot of users are simply entering the wrong information when setting things up, but are associating it with the above bugs. :/ So, organizations that apply the most strict security settings possible will see these issues, while average organizations will not. In my opinion, any IT group that applies these EAS policies should be doing testing on new devices and OS versions and informing users proactively about whether to update/purchase or not. IT can't simply tighten all the screws and then let users purchase or install whatever they want! This is regardless of Google's responsibility related to the bugs in their code, which are also unfortunate. It's a mess from all angles.
G+_Paulo Nunes-Ueno
I think Neil summarizes the issue pretty well. My question is shouldn't AAA (and TWIG) be covering this? It seems like total fan boy/girl stuff to just cover Google on the positive stuff. There is a practical piece that AAA could help on as well since other email clients (including stock 4.3 email app) still work. I could picture the AAA crew giving helpful advice on which to use.
