As already expected the fingerprint sensor of the iPhone 5S got hacked pretty quickly and easily. All you need is a photo, a printer and some white woodglue or latex milk. With the fingerpints been already all over the device it shouldn't be that hard for a theft. Since this sensor can't recognize if it's a thin foil/sheet or a real finger the technique people use in Asia to fool fingerprint sensors at airports should work too - they use a very thin silicone tape which would make it even easier.

I think it shows just again that biometrical sensors can't replace passwords, at least not for things that need a high security.

- they're easy to obtain

- governments have them already in their databases from traveling or passports so they could just print them out and unlock your device

- it can easily be unlocked by forcing the thumb on the device or doing it while someone sleeps

Nothing is as secure as something that just exists in our head (like passwords= and I think it will be hard to find any solution that is more convenient but as secure.
