A shame as it was the nexus users that pushed so hard for OEM 's to be more like nexus, and now ...

Bruce Hackler How in any way is that "great" you could get a Nexus 5X for $200, or $249. You can get a new 64GB 6P for $499. Aside from a new CPU there is really nothing that the Pixel offers that is not just software related over the old Nexus devices. Look at the HTC A9, it i the same as the Pixel, only the Pixel has pat of the backing replaced with glass.

Assistant is software, no reason that cant be an update for ANY phone.

Daydream.. VR on phones is just a gimmick.

6P already lasts for over a full work day, heck even my N6 would get 8hr SOT with just a kernel.

No useful need for USB 3 unless you are manually copying tons of video to/from your phone, that is a very small amount of users.

New CPU, yeah that's the same as every other phone that's been out for months. The next chip is due out in a couple of months already. Have fun with your pricey phone being out dated already.

Beautiful? It looks like(is) the $499 HTC A9 with a modified back, like I said. Would you buy a Ferrari that looked like failed Chevy with a new logo?

How did you want OEMs to be like Nexus, updates and no bloatware?

Google have become more like an OEM? How?

There is an undercurrent that price is causing people to cry, but in most countries prior Nexus releases do not get subsidised and are sold at flagship prices, this release is no different price wise.

Phone has better specs. There is no stunted trash model like the Nexus 5x, the camera bump has been removed, hilarious that Apple copied this and thought it was cool.

The downside is that there isn't stereo speakers but I only ever used them when I shaved, otherwise I'm using canalphones.

Camera is better, immediate access to VR, if you think it's a gimmick then you can discount it but extra RAM is never a bad thing neither is a faster processor.

Looks wise, it is a phone slab, like many other phone slabs. The only thing that makes a phone better than another now is software and internals.

Comparing it to cars is like cramming a cube into a spherical receptacle.

If you don't like it buy another Android phone, (one of the best things about Android).

Otherwise stop crying and earn more money if that is your problem.

Pradyumn Vij? well, we've got the performance ever since the Nexus 4 so no surprises here. The thing its the most expensive Android phone and it's not best at anything. Phones like the OP3 and the Axon 7 are the best in a couple of categories half the price. So I really don't see what exactly are you paying for. And please don't say the camera is amazing because DXO said so and the battery is amazing because the software is optimised, these are just assumptions.

I too was waiting for the next stock software instant update solid value phone, but can't do it with the Pixel. It is on par at best with the Axon 7 at more than double the price.

5.5" QHD 64GB Axon 7 CAD$545 with tax and 2 year warranty.

5.5" QHD 64GB Pixel CAD$1300 with tax and 2 year warranty.

Pixel has 821 over 820 processor.

Pixel has slight battery bump (3450-3200).

Pixel has better camera.

Pixel has faster updates.

Axon has dual sim/SD card support.

Axon has front firing speakers.

Axon has standard quichcharge 3.0.

Axon comes with free case and screen protector.

Axon has less unused front bezel.

Both 4GB ram

Both daydream compatible

Both AMOLED QHD 5.5"

Both metal body.

Pixel costs about 2.5 times the Axon come-on Google, how could I possible make that decision. Very disappointed. I missed out on a nice Axon pre-order bonus (monster over ear headphones) by waiting for your lunch announcement.
