G+_TJ Evans
My guess: because Verizon Wireless forces bloatware onto the phones and injects OS update delays into the process ... (Hint: That is why my 4 data plans and I left VZW.)
G+_Joseph Cappellino
I think the better question is "Why does Verizon Wireless hate Google?" * Verizon delayed updates to the Galaxy Nexus for months. * Verizon then disallowed Google Wallet to be installed on their phones. * Verizon forced Google to include non-stock apps (i.e. - My Verizon) on the Galaxy Nexus. * Verizon uses a proprietary calling model (CDMA vs. GSM) that is difficult to distribute the binaries for. I would leave, as TJ Evans has, but it's actually the cheapest service for me and my wife right now, especially since we still have our unlimited data (which they will have to pry from my cold dead hands). G+_Kevin Spitzer (JaguarXT
Verizon wants to control the user experience. That is why some Verizon devices still have bootloader locked. The less control the user has the better for Verizon. Less technical issues, less returns, more ways to point users to services that Verizon makes money. Open sourced (somewhat) devices that allows rooting and full control to users is bad business for Verizon. So Google experience Android devices are the last thing Verizon wants on their services. And the control of the Google experience on Android devices is the last thing Google wants. Cdma is only used by few providers is another issue too. But can be worked around if the provider/s willing to work within the Google experience. Otherwise Google won't care to work around cdma if providers, like Verizon, are not willing to work with what Google wants. ?
G+_Michael Larini
All I want is the pure Android experience with Verizon service without rooting. Oh yeah and fast updates.
G+_Lucas Nichols
Google doesn't hate Verizon. Verizon doesn't hate Google. Verizon makes money off their bloatware. Google refuses to allow them access to certain personal Information. Therefore no Google wallet, no nexus, and so on. Verizon pretty much said "we won't make any money off of your nexus line or Google wallet unless u allow us to to spy on what people are doing and sell that info to other people." Google pretty much said "fuck off." Google has tried in a few different ways to start their own cell network. It's coming. May be a few more years still. I give it 5yrs at the most. Won't be cell technology though. More like some new nation wide wifi network. (which has already been tried and banned due to cell companies and cable companies lobbying against it.) G+_TJ Evans
Michael Larini - Also, a return to unlimited data plans. Verizon Wireless - your network (coverage and speed) is the best, but your business practices are keeping users away. (Again: I had 4 data plans (+2 voice plans) for several years, but had to leave because you forced OS delays (creating attack windows and feature delays of 12-18 months!) and were killing off unlimited data plans. The un-uninstallable bloatware is annoying as well, but I can get over that (or root & remove).)
